The World Beneath Our Feet 2024

The World Beneath Our Feet is an installation that invites visitors to explore the intricate ecosystem beneath their feet, focusing on the interconnected networks of mushroom mycelium and the collaborative dynamics of tree communication and resource-sharing. We have become more aware of how fungal mycelium exchange nutrients and information, mirroring the communication networks found in human societies.

This installation celebrates the beauty of cooperation, symbiosis, and interconnectedness. It hopes to inspire visitors to consider how cooperation, solidarity, and mutual support can cultivate resilience and harmony in both natural and human ecosystems.

Visitors are encouraged to imagine the networks underground by using fallen leaves to extend the hidden networks indicated by the mushrooms above ground.
