Parallel Nature 2016-19

As the fate of the environment due to colonisation,urbanisation and climate change has become an increasing focus of our consciousness, I watch the unique ecosystem of my local area undergoing its response. The strategies of the plant world are particularly fascinating. Scientific research is now providing evidence of the inner working of forests and their cellular memory. This communal, communicative, competitive and migratory nature of plants parallels our own community’s response to these effects. This was tested in 2017 by a major flood that put the whole ecosystem under pressure as does continuing demand for housing
